History

Centuries ago, Zaroth was a peaceful city located on a remote island, known for its natural riches and abundance of rare minerals. Explorers and traders from around the world came in search of these riches, and the city quickly flourished, becoming a center of prosperity and innovation.

The Turn

Everything changed when a strange meteor collided with the island. The impact released a mysterious substance, known as space rock, which upon first contact seemed to further increase the city's wealth. Miners discovered that the material had properties that could generate infinite energy, and soon all of Zaroth was using the Star Stone in its infrastructure. The city seemed destined for a future of unlimited grandeur.

Corruption

However, it did not take long for the side effects to manifest. The Starstone carried within it an alien virus that, upon coming into contact with living beings, began to slowly corrupt them. Animals and plants began to deform, transforming into grotesque monsters. Gradually, even the inhabitants of the city succumbed to the corruption, their minds being devoured by an insatiable hunger, and their bodies deforming into monstrous creatures.

The Anomalies

In addition to affecting the biology of living beings, the meteor triggered spatial and temporal anomalies throughout the island. Entire regions were distorted, creating portals to other dimensions or zones where the laws of physics did not seem to apply. These anomalies gave rise to even more terrifying monsters, which invaded Zaroth from other planes of existence.

The Lost Riches

Now the city is in ruins, dominated by monsters and deformed creatures. But rumors persist that rich deposits of Starstone still exist, buried deep within the island. The temptation to obtain such a devastating source of power attracts adventurers from around the world, who risk their lives in hopes of extracting unimaginable riches, but few return.

The Future of Zaroth

There are those who say that the anomalies are still expanding, and that corruption is spreading beyond the island's borders. Some believe that a cure for the virus may be hidden somewhere among the ruins, while others are more concerned with controlling the Star Stone for their own purposes, even knowing the risk of repeating the tragedy that struck Zaroth.
